The preschool years are a period of non-stop fun and activities for kids. This is when they get their hands dirty, play pranks, throw tantrums and learn a thing or two in school, rinse and repeat.
Kids at this age have a very short attention span, so teaching them will not be the easiest job. To engage them productively, the teacher must find common ground between learning and fun.
In this article, we discuss five of the most effective Preschool activities that will assist you in planning fun, simple, engaging, and affordable ways to help your children enjoy their lessons.
Copy Letters Together
Ever heard the line “every child is an artist.” Well, we have, and this is true of many kids that turn out for preschool. Kids take advantage of every opportunity they have with color crayons and paper to make all those “eye-catching” impressions” that you’ve probably come across in your living room. Think of drawings of people with stick legs and round faces. You can take advantage of this to point them toward other learning resources. Teach them to draw shapes and trace out outlines of letters. You can then trace the letters of the alphabet and show them the results.
Match shapes
Using flashcards, you can design several shapes and duplicate each one into several pieces. Pick up a complete set of all the different shapes and have the kids identify similar shapes from the remaining pool. While they are at it, you can mention the names of each shape.
Do this repeatedly for each shape; you should have them familiar with the shapes and their names. You can tell them to pick a square, circle, oval, etc., from the pool of shapes. And if they get it right, you’ll know they are catching on.
Solve Puzzles Together
Kids love puzzles–the ones that are not too puzzling, at least. They can try their hands on a jigsaw puzzle and develop their memory skills. And when you introduce them to 9-piece puzzles, they can develop their motor skills. This means that they learn finger coordination while building their finger strength. Going forward, you can introduce them to other educational puzzles. You can incorporate letters and numbers into them, resulting in a fun-filled and impactful learning experience for the kids.
Engage Them In Outdoor Activities
Kids love a breath of fresh air, so let them have it. Take them shopping and encourage them to locate the things you want to purchase. As you browse the labels on the commodities, say each one out to their hearing, then take turns doing the same thing.
Check out your local library or neighborhood center to discover what particular workouts or clubs are operating.
Schedule and take up a visit and have them explore the various activities taking place there.
Engage Them with Music
Kids love music, and this is a universal fact. You can take advantage of this to blend learning materials into songs that they can easily relate to. You may throw in some letters of the alphabet or the major body parts into a catchy tune and watch them sing along. So while you get to dictate the tune for them, they’ll catch on to it and have fun while at it, a win for all parties.
