Allergies happen to children of different age groups. Allergic diseases come as atopic dermatitis (eczema) or as food allergies. Children with atopic dermatitis have a tremendous threat of allergies and asthma, which are additionally likely to emerge in the toddler years to school age.

This advancement pattern from one type of allergic disease to another is called the “atopic march.”  Atopic is a term that physicians use to indicate that someone is allergic to different things, such as foods, and other environmental triggers, such as pollen and pet dander

Below are some trusted and effective methods to know if your kid has allergies.

Check on their friends

For parents, their kid’s friend can be a big clue. Check if they have been having symptoms like sneezing. This is important because kids can pass a cold from one to another.

Many parents know the friends their kids have been hanging out with and what is happening around the neighborhood. So parents must observe the health of their kid’s friends to pick clues on what may be happening to their kids. If their kid’s friends are also sick, then that may be the problem; if they aren’t, then it is time to look for other causes of the symptoms.

Duration of the symptoms

Cold and other related illnesses usually go away within three days. Allergies, it is it, may last for a longer period.

The longer the symptoms, the more likely that a child has allergies. Nasal allergies, for example, can last for much of the year. Other indoor allergies, like cockroaches, dust mist, etc., are year-round triggers and can last for a greater period of a child’s life.

Weather condition

During spring, pollen from trees and flowers is usually found everywhere. This can cause sneezing and wheezing in children.

While In summer, the bites from insects can further trigger allergic reactions. In the hot months, there is “food pollen syndrome.” This phenomenon is when fruits and vegetables hold allergens that can bring symptoms to your mouth.

If the child has symptoms at various times of the day, it is most likely caused by allergies. Therefore, parents should try to relate it to their kids’ actions.

For what it is, the weather can bring about different allergic reactions in children. Many kids will develop allergies during the winter, and the same applies to summer too.

Check their nose

Another way to know if your kid has allergies is to check what is coming from their nose.

If the liquid clogging up their nose is clear and watery, it is most likely to be allergies. On the other hand, if it is green and thick, it is likely an infection or virus.

Parents should always endeavor to un-stuff their nasal passages with a saltwater or saline treatment. If it is a case of an infant, then a suction bulb should be used instead. If this process does not reduce the symptoms, then parents might have to make use of over-the-counter nasal steroids, like fluticasone or triamcinolone acetonide. This medication should take care of the symptoms.
